Structure

Description of organizational levels:
  • National Conference: Supreme body of SWADEPA, appointed every 5 years (§10-11).Delegates from branches (90%), Women/Youth/REC (10%). National General Council: Meets between national conferences (§10)
     

  • National Executive Committee, NEC: Highest organ of SWADEPA between conferences (§12).
     

  • Regional Conference: Triannual. Delegates from branches. Elects REC.  (§19). Regional Council. Appointed yearly, division between REC + branch delegates. Discuss and decide on regional matters (§20).
     

  • Branch: SWADEPA’s basic unit, one per Inkhundla (§25). Branch Executive Committee: The branch leadership, elected by branch members on annual general assembly. Zone: A subdivision of branches, where needed. One zone equals one chiefdom. Constitutional amendment needed to reflect this. (§26.1). Cell: A subdivisions of large zones (chiefdoms) where needed. Constitutional amendment needed to reflect this. (§7.1.e and 7.2). 
     

  • Women’s League: Open for women members of SWADEPA, work as an autonomous body within SWADEPA, with own Constitution. Same basic structure as SWADEPA. Appoints representatives to BEC, REC, NWC etc. (§7.3).
     

  • Youth League: Open for all members aged 14-35, works as an autonomous body within SWADEPA, with own Constitution. Same basic structure as SWADEPA. Appoints representatives to BEC, REC, NWC etc. (§7.4)
     

  • Member: Each member belongs as a minimum to his/her local branch and when appropriate to zones and cells.
